Therefore, this makes it an excellent all-purpose cleaner.

  1. Fill the bowl with 1 cup of water.
  2. Get a piece of sliced lemon and place it in the water, squeeze it to extract some of the juice
  3. Mix the liquid mixtures
  4. Place the bowl into the microwave, then set the timer for three minutes on high

However, if you don’t have a lemon, a lime or an orange, can be substituted.

Step 1: Slice, squeeze and chop the Lemons

Slice the lemon in half, then squeeze the juice from both halves.

After that, cut the fruit into quarters and immerse all of the pieces in water.

This ensures that any leftover lemon juice evaporates in the microwave.

This will also help with dirt and debris removal.

Step 2: Microwave the mixture

Place the bowl of mixture into the microwave for 3 minutes on a high setting.

The water should bubble and boil, and it may eventually evaporate from the bowl.

After 3 minutes, keep the door closed to prevent the water’s steam from escaping.

Microwave the bowl for another 1-2 minutes or until almost all of the water has evaporated.

Step 3: Leave the bowl of mixture for 5 minutes to cool down

Leave the door closed until the steam has settled and condensed.

Then, carefully open the door and take out the bowl to begin cleaning.

Step 4: Wipe down the microwave’s interior

By now, the food splatter and stains on the microwave’s interior should be easily removed.

To begin, take the turntable out of the microwave and wipe it down with a towel.

Or you can wash it with dish soap.

Then, using a cleaning cloth damped in water, clean the microwave’s sides, ceiling, and door.

A damp sponge with a scrubbing pad can also be used.

Just like a cleaning cloth, use it to clean the inside of the microwave.

How to Remove Tough Stains with Lemon

If you missed cleaning your microwave for a month or so,  simply add a little more ingredients.

  • Add an extra 1 tablespoon or 15 mL of vinegar to the water to loosen the stains

Step 1: Add white vinegar to your lemon mixture

If your microwave has tough stains, mix in some white vinegar with the lemon juice.

This will significantly dissolve caked-on food.

To make a more powerful cleaning agent, combine 1 tablespoon (15 mL) vinegar with the lemon juice.

Thoroughly stir the mixture because vinegar has a strong odor that may linger in your microwave.

However, if your microwave does not have any caked-on food, you do not need to use vinegar.

Step 2: Directly apply and scrub the cleaning agent

For stubborn stains, soak the corner of the cloth to the cleaning agent.

After that, scrub the stained area vigorously until it is removed.

However, if the stain refuses to come off, you may need to use a mild abrasive.

Or, you can also create a new batch of the lemon mixture, then microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.

Allow the cleaning agent to sit for 5 minutes.

Then, with the remaining water, use it in removing the mark.

Step 3: Lemon and baking soda for tough stains

Another method for removing stubborn stains with lemon is to combine it with baking soda.

Put the baking soda directly into the stain.

Then set it aside for 1 to 2 minutes.

After that, scrub the stain vigorously with the cloth dipped in lemon water.

To remove baked-on food, use baking soda as a gentle abrasive.

While the lemon aids in the removal of the stain.

Remove any baking soda residue by wiping down the area.
